WoW! I haven't been doing much learning since graduation. And I'm putting capital letters in the wrong place. I better do well at intermediate next year! Aren't I going to miss Hay Park school, espically cause I know that intermediates has loads of tests! But I wish Hay Park all the best and hopely we will meet again! Before I leave I have made a memories presentation with Hunter. Hope you enjoy!
I was a Year 6 student at Hay Park School in Auckland, NZ. I was in McCahon Class and my teacher was Mrs Kingston. This was where I shared my learning.
Our class had a blog and you can visit it by clicking here.

FINAL Blog Post on Passion Porojects
Today we presented! We had fun presenting because I got to sing live and Toma and Hunter and Alaskah had a video of them dancing. But sadly Toma's video did not work. We also had ups and downs. Maybe our next goal is probably to learn to collaborate with each other and to try to worry about ourselves. I found that part challenging with Toma. Anyways I still made progress and had fun!

I remember when....
Hey Blog World!
This is probably going to be one of my last blog posts before I go to Waikowai intermediate, but before I go soon on of my favourite memories here at Hay Park I will remember the time I started as a year one to being a year 6. I was scared of all the teachers and everyone. But there was one friend who stood by me every time and that was Nisha. When times were rough she was always there. I thought it was going to be scary but then when I was year 2 I knew everyone like my second family!

Passion Projects in McCahon
Hey blog world! Haven't blogged in a while. But there a thing new project in McCahon class called Passion Projects. Me, Alaskah, Hunter and Toma have wanted to work each other so we are. Our passion is Music and Hip Hop. Last week Wednesday we presented our pitch. A pitch is kind of like a plan. For our plan we had to do three slides about motivation, time line and goals. We will be presenting in week 8 and we are looking forward to this week to get some grooving on with some sick beats!
Here is our pitch:

Back To School! - Topic: Sun smart
Welcome back blog world! It's nice to be back to school for for the first week of term 4!! YAY! I am so looking forward to our new topic about sun smart and also sun safety! Our first task for sun smart is to use something creative to show our learning about things we have learnt so far about sun safety. For this assignment I have chosen to work with my intelligent friend Evanjaline and we have chosen to write a song about sun smart. Thanks to Evangaline we have finished the song today and we are very proud of ourselves! So hope you enjoy our song down below and please leave a comment giving us some feedback!
Sun Situations
Chorus
When ya out-side (Drag), Even when it's cloudy, Make sure your wearin a cap, or even a hatx2
1st Verse,
Even when your wearing sunscreen, its never enough. You gotta have that sun hat protective stuff.
Your Head, Neck, and Face.
You gotta look after that precious space.
NZ has some of the strongest levels of UV radiation.
Now that's a cool sun situation
Chorus
When ya out-side (Drag), Even when it's cloudy, Make sure your wearin a cap, or even a hatx2
2nd Verse
Lets all be safe! Let us be SunSmart!
It may sound hard but its your time to start.
Together we can spread the word
let's call it collaboration
Is that another sun situation
Chorus
When ya out-side (Drag), Even when it's cloudy, Make sure your wearin a cap, or even a hatx2

This is a post about Book club in Mccahon class
Book club is when there are different roles and every member of the team has to be one, so for this week Me and Nisha were discussion directors. The most important job is the discussion director which directs the conversation. We have a conversation about the book when we have read to the chapter we have been asked to. The Viewer: Should Tristian...
This is the padlet that my class wrote on. This is about Tristian from the book called "The Viewer "by Shaun Tan. This is also about what we think Tristian should do next. Go have another look through the toy or don't because his life may depend on it? Life or Death?
What I thought: I have two opinions, Yes because it could be a good thing. Also no because it might not be a good thing and you could even die!

The Viewer By Shawn Tan and Gary Crew
This week we have been reading a book called The Viewer by Gary Crew and Shaun Tan. The last page we read was a part when the boy went to sleep and had a restless sleep...(Restless sleep means to not have a comfortable sleep).... So today we took a photo of our buddy pretending to have a restless sleep. My buddy was Hunter....

Here is the soundscape Hunter and I did about the story:

Ashlyn's Week 4 Term 3 Reflection 2015 (Blog Post)
Week 4 Term 3 Reflection 2015
Backward-Looking:
What have been your learning highlights so far this term?
So far one of my learning highlights is camp because we learned something that made a big difference at school. That difference was us listening and not excluding each other in different subjects.
|
Inward-Looking:
What were your Learner Profile goals for Term 3? Have your goals changed? Are you on track to meet your goals?
My learner profile goal for this term is to be self guided and to work by myself without chatting and getting carried away with my friends! I think there’s still a lot more for me to learn about my goal. I think I am still a bit finding it challenging, but now I know a tip. That tip is to ignore my friends unless they need help and to just let them know that I can only play and talk with them in break times!
|
Outward-Looking:
If you were the teacher, what comments would you make about your learning so far this term?
I think if I were the teacher I would say that my learning is better than last term. That Ashlyn is improving and Ashlyn still has a lot to look forward to! Ashlyn is slowly achieving her goals.
|
Forward-Looking:
As you look back at your learning so far, what's one thing that you would like to try to improve upon over the next few weeks?
Just getting a lot more work done in my self guided. Making sure that I am on track every day! I should try to improve on making sure I finished a task before I start a new activity!

|
Outward-Looking:
If you were the teacher, what comments would you make about your learning so far?
If I were to be the teacher I would say to Ashlyn (ME) that I have been alright carrying with the learning that I have done. But you still haven’t been able to do things independently still.
|
Forward-Looking:
As you look back at your learning so far, what's one thing that you would like to try to improve upon?

My blog comment on Paerata's individual blog (Miracle)
McCahon class was doing quad blogging today. If you have no idea what quad blogging is then it means a new term/concept that has 4 schools blogging in a cycle that helps people view and comment on students blogs. The way this works is once a class signs up they get entered into a "quad" and then a moderator makes sure things run smoothly. When I was looking at Paerata's individual blogs. I was flicking through until I came to Miracle's blog, I scrolled down and I found a best friends blog post. It gave me detail on her friends, and furthermore detail about their nicknames. Here's the the link to her blog post: http://miraclepaerata.blogspot.co.nz/2015/06/my-best-friends.html?showComment=1435106194726#c4970251086092669598

[Introduction]
Have you ever wondered about the life cycle of stars? Well if you have, then read on this explanation will help you gain more information that you could use to write your own explanation!
[Paragraph 1-Life cycle]
To begin of with the life cycle, stars are born in a cloud of hydrogen atoms and dust atoms that is called nebula. Also there is gravity battling the star, but the core of the star which is nuclear fusion and it’s usually called equilibrium which means it’s the main sequence. The energy produces to help blow much of the disc of gas away, leaving the new star shining brightly. The centre, or core of the proto star gets increasingly dense and hot until nuclear fusion is finally triggered! Stars sequence lasts depending on the mass of the star and how much hydrogen fuel the star contains. Some stars shine unevenly, and known to be a variable star.
[Paragraph 2 -Appearance]
Have you noticed that most of our stars are all different colours and shapes! One star that makes me really interested in is Orion. The reason why I am interested in Orion is because because it is visible and from we live (New Zealand) in Autumn we can see it in and also in winter and spring! Lastly, we can see that stars are all different colors and shapes and sizes.Stars range in colour depending on how hot they can be. (Temperature) Did you also know that the second brightest star is Canopus!
[Paragraph 3 -Types of stars]
These different types of stars like a proto and dwarf star. Did you that Rigel (the star) is 20 000 degrees and it is also 40 000 times brighter than the sun! Stars that are more than eight times the mass of the sun are called “blue giants”! During a supernova event, enough light is released is outshine an entire galaxy of billions of stars. A supernova are the most dynamic and energetic events in our universe. There are different kinds of stars, there are nova stars, a supergiant star and a dwarf star.
[Conclusion]
Did you know in ancient civilization they knew when a new year had passed by observing changes in patterns in the stars! I hoped you have learnt some information about stars if you still have some questions then go to this website http://www.sciencekids.co.nz/sciencefacts/space/stars.html. Good luck on your explanation.

Is the Moon a upside down?
In Week 6 of Term 2 our class focussed on how to write great explanations.
We wrote about the Moon’s different phases as we are in the middle of learning about Planet Earth and Beyond. Learning how to write a great explanation will help us with our self-guided topics in a few weeks time. Here is my writing, after I have self-assessed and peer-assessed my work.

INTRODUCTION
Why does the Moon look different every night? The Moon looks different every night because of the Moon’s orbit and the Sun’s reflection. The Moon goes through a cycle of phases and starts of with New Moon.
Moon’s Orbit
Can you believe that the Moon orbits the Earth while the Earth orbits the Sun, but there’s a slight problem. The Earth is tilted from the orbit of the sun. Some people believe that the shadows of the Moon are caused by the Earth’s shadows. However, the truth is that phases of the Moon are caused by the Sun’s reflection and the amount of the bright side that we can see as the Moon moves through its orbit.
Phases of the Moon
To begin with the Moon’s phases, it starts of with the New Moon then the waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, last quarter, waning crescent. Then the cycle will start over again. Sometimes you will see the last quarter on the other side, but that’s just apart of the Moon cycle.
How long does it take for the Moon to orbit Earth?
Approximately, it takes the Moon a period of 27.3 days to orbit. Did you know the Moon takes longer amount of days to return to the same point (celestial sphere), it takes 29.5 days to return! The reason why is because of the motion of the Earth around the Sun; this is called a synodic month.
Conclusion/Summary
Overall, now that you know a few facts about why the Moon changes their appearance every night. I hope you have enjoyed this, if you would like some more facts then go to this presention
(https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Dfo-dFUJZshUce6qmj8bQsSPRohW9WaPZkYuLvSgtQ/edit#slide=id.p) I hope you have enjoyed and if you would like to construct your own explanation good luck!
